Cowboys Hire Former Vikings DC George Edwards for Role on Defensive Staff

The Cowboys have hired former Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

His job title has yet to be determined, though Hill hears his focus will be on the team’s linebackers. This will be Edwards’ second go-round with Dallas after previously serving as the Cowboys’ LBs coach from 1998-2001.

Edwards was fired shortly after Minnesota’s Divisional Round loss to San Francisco, concluding his six-year reign as defensive coordinator. He oversaw some elite defenses in his time in Minnesota, even earning a couple of head coaching interviews around the league, and is well-respected around the league.
